Mary Ann Mitcham has been a resident of Hampton since 1965 and during that time has lived by the motto “be aware and be involved”With that in mind, she has served as a Girl Scout Leader and Association Chair for Pine Valley, was PTO President at Hampton Elementary for 8 years, an Instructor Trainer and 6th District CPR Chairman for American Heart Association and a member of Leadership Henry Board of Directors. She has also served as Worthy Matron of the Hampton chapter of the Eastern Star and in 1992 was elected to the Henry County Board of Education and served 3 terms. In 1984 she was co-founder of The Joseph Sams School for children with developmental delays which is still in operation and serves children from preschool through high school. She has been the Booth Coordinator for the Bear Creek Festival for the last 17 years. She is currently serving her third term on the Hampton City Council. Mrs. Mitcham lives on Shelby Street in Hampton with her husband, Danny and her son, Jonathan. She has five children and eight grandchildren and is a member of Trinity Family Worship Center.
