The Georgia Public Service Commission wants to make sure consumers take steps to keep their bills affordable during hot weather. Customers who use more than 650 kilowatts each billing cycle may expect to see an increase in their bills for billing cycles during the months of June, July, August and September, when Georgia Power’s summer rates are in effect. Georgia Power’s summer rates recover the costs of bringing additional generating plants on line to meet the increased demand for electricity that occurs during the summer due primarily to air conditioning usage.
