Main Street Program
The Main Street Program is coordinated by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and is designed to organize activities within downtown Hampton to promote revitalization. This program aids with the development of the city’s core commercial areas. The Main Street Program works closely with the Hampton Downtown Development Authority and the Hampton Historic Preservation Commission in developing action plans for the revitalization of the city.
The Main Street Program consists of four committees with one vision; Hampton’s Historic Business District is the heart of the community, where unique and exciting businesses flourish through Historic Preservation and the past has a future. This is accomplished by focusing on design, promotions, economic growth, and sustainability.
The mission of the Hampton Main Street Program is to preserve and enhance the historic charm and integrity of the community and to reinforce the downtown as the heartbeat of the community utilizing the 4 - Point Approach of the National Main Street Program.
Design Committee: Our mission is to create an inviting, aesthetically appealing and safe Main Street Program area environment.
Promotions: Our goal is to provide Hampton with the ultimate experience through awesome festivals, arts, entertainment and value for our residents and visitors.
Economic Restructuring Committee: Our mission is to convert empty spaces into productive property, to help stimulate downtown growth through increased business retention and expansion.
