CANDIDATE QUALIFYING CRITERIA, FEES, DATES & TIME
To run for office in the City of Hampton, one must meet the following qualifications:
- You must be a U.S. Citizen.
- You must be a registered voter within the city of Hampton at the time of qualifying.
- You may not have been convicted or sentenced for fraudulent violation of election laws, malfeasance in office, a felony involving moral turpitude, or, if so, verify that your rights have been restored.
2025 Qualifying Information
Qualifying fee was set as follows:
Qualifying Fees:
Mayor : $396.00
City Council : $297.00
The qualifying fee is 3% of the previous year’s annual salary of the office/position you are seeking plus any supplements.
Qualifying Dates and Time:
Qualifying dates for Mayor and City Council seats will begin August 18, 2025 through August 22, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. with an hour break each day beginning at 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Office of the City Clerk.
