Employee Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
    • The City contributes 100% towards the employee premium and 50% towards dependent coverage. 
    • Newly hired full-time employees are eligible for benefits on the first day following a 30-day window. For example, if an employee starts on September 5, his/her benefits will be active on November 1.  
    • Benefits Package provides complete detail of insurance benefits offered by the City of Hampton.
  • Retirement Benefits 
    • Defined Benefits Plan with the Georgia Municipal Employee Benefits Systems (GMEBS), paid 100% by the City.
      • Vesting after 5 years of full-time employment.
      • Early Retirement: Age 55 with at least 10 years of service.
      • Full Retirement: Age 65 with at least 5 years of service. 
      • Public Safety Employees Only: Rule of 80 Full Retirement - Participant's combined total credit service and age must equal or exceed 80.
    • Voluntary Defined Contribution (457) Plan through MassMutual Insurance.
  • Basic Life Insurance 
    • The City pays 100% for life insurance in the amount of $15,000. Employees have the option to purchase additional coverage for themselves and their dependents.
